Before purchasing a Mesh Patio Pet Door, it’s important to check your screen door setup to ensure a proper fit.
Things to Check Before Buying
Some sliding screen doors have locking hardware installed inside the door track, typically near the handle. This hardware can prevent the Mesh Patio Pet Door from fitting into the track as intended.
Screws securing any components within the track area where the pet door would be installed.
What If There’s Locking Hardware?
The locking hardware is often removable - simply unscrew and remove it, store it somewhere safe at home to reattach when needed to make space for the pet door.
However, please note that removing this hardware will disable the current lock on your sliding screen door.
Note: If you’d prefer not to remove or modify your door hardware, we recommend considering the Glass Patio Pet Door instead.
