Before purchasing and installing one of our Patio Pet Doors, it’s important to ensure it will fit correctly in your existing sliding door setup. Below is a quick guide on how to measure and some helpful things to consider before installation.
How to Measure Your Sliding Door
To find the correct size, measure the inside of your sliding door track from the top to the bottom. You can find all sizes and specifications for our Patio Pet Door range on our website in the Product Listings.
Tip: It’s important to measure within the track itself, not just the door frame. The Glass Patio Pet Door is designed to sit snugly inside the track, so measuring from outside edges may result in an incorrect fit.

Important: Bottom Track Lip or Ridge
If you’re looking to purchase a Glass Patio Pet Door, please check your bottom track carefully.
Some sliding doors have a raised track lip or ridge that can affect installation.
Our Glass Patio Pet Door is spring-loaded and will only compress so far.
If the track lip is higher than the door’s minimum height allowance, the insert won’t be able to angle into the track, meaning it may not clear the ridge and cannot be installed.
Please check:
- The height of your bottom track lip/ridge
- Your sliding door’s minimum height requirement
- That the pet door insert can clear the ridge when angled into place
If your bottom lip is too high, the door will not fit, even if the overall track height measurement is correct.
Extensions
Once you’ve measured your door height, you may find that an extension is needed. If so, head over to our Spare Parts Menu to explore extension options available for both Mesh and Glass Patio Pet Doors.
