Before purchasing and installing one of our Patio Pet Doors, it’s important to confirm that it will fit correctly in your existing sliding door setup. Follow the steps below to measure accurately and avoid installation issues.
How to Measure Your Sliding Door
Measure the internal height of your sliding door track, from the top track to the bottom track.
All size ranges and specifications for our Patio Pet Door range are listed on the product pages.
Tip: Always measure inside the track, not the outer door frame. Patio Pet Doors sit inside the track, so external measurements may result in an incorrect fit.

Important: Bottom Track Lip or Ridge (Glass Patio Pet Door)
Some sliding doors have a raised bottom track lip or ridge. This can affect installation.
The Glass Patio Pet Door is spring-loaded and can only compress to a defined minimum height.
If the following measurements are shorter than any listed minimum height (with or without extensions), the door cannot be installed.
How to Check Fit
Step 1: Measure the total door height (inside top track to inside bottom track).
Step 2: Measure the height of the bottom track lip or ridge.
Step 3: Subtract the track lip height from the total door height.
Step 4: Make sure both:
Your total door height, and
Your adjusted height (after subtracting the lip)
meet the minimum height requirement for your Glass Patio Pet Door configuration - with or without extensions installed.
Important: If the bottom track lip reduces the available space below the minimum height, the Glass Patio Pet Door will not compress or angle into place, even if the overall door height measurement appears correct.
Using Extensions
If your door height exceeds the base size range, extensions may be required.
Extensions are available for both Mesh and Glass Patio Pet Doors and can be found in our Spare Parts menu.
