Problem:
There’s a gap between the edge of your sliding door and the Mesh Patio pet door insert.
Possible Causes:
- The door or track may not be level.
- The sliding door doesn’t sit firmly against the pet door due to lack of weight or pressure.
- The rollers underneath the door may be uneven or require servicing.
Solution 1: Use Adhesive Foam Strips
Use adhesive foam weather seal strips to fill the gap and enhance insulation. These strips are easy to install and help create a better seal between the two door panels. If you are within your 30-Day Return period and need weather seal to address the gap, please contact support@hakunapets.com and we will arrange to send some to you at no cost.
Solution 2: Adjust Your Sliding (Roller) Door
Over time, sliding doors can become uneven due to wear or shifting rollers, creating alignment issues. Here are some general steps to adjust your sliding door:
- Locate the Adjustment Screws
- Look for small screws near the bottom of the sliding door on either side (often covered by a plastic cap).
- These control the height of the door via the rollers.
- Adjust the Rollers
- Use a Phillips or flathead screwdriver to turn the screws:
- Turn clockwise to raise the door.
- Turn counterclockwise to lower it.
- Adjust both sides incrementally to ensure the door sits level and aligns flush with the pet door.
- Use a Phillips or flathead screwdriver to turn the screws:
- Check Alignment
- Slide the door open and closed to test the fit.
- Make sure it glides smoothly and sits evenly along the frame.
- Lubricate if Needed
- Clean out debris from the bottom track.
- Apply a silicone-based lubricant to help the rollers glide more smoothly.
