Noticing a gap between your sliding door and the pet door insert? You're not alone - this is a common issue and can usually be fixed with a couple of easy adjustments.
Why this might be happening:
Your sliding door or track might not be level
The door may not press firmly against the pet door
The rollers underneath could be uneven or in need of a quick tune-up
Option 1: Use Adhesive Foam Strips
A quick and easy fix is to apply weather-seal foam strips to help close the gap and improve insulation.
What to do:
Pick up some adhesive foam weather seal (available online through Hakuna Pets Spare Parts for Patio Pet Doors or available at most hardware stores)
Apply it along the edge of your sliding door where it meets your Patio Pet Door

Option 2: Adjust Your Sliding Door Rollers
Sometimes your sliding door just needs a small adjustment to sit flush with the pet door.
Step-by-step:
Find the adjustment screws
They’re usually at the bottom corners of the sliding door
You might need to pop off a small plastic cap to access them
Raise or lower the door
Use a Phillips or flathead screwdriver
Turn screws clockwise to raise the door
Turn counterclockwise to lower it
Adjust both sides a little at a time until the door sits level
Check the fit
Slide the door open and closed
Make sure it moves smoothly and sits flush with the pet door insert
Clean and lubricate the track
Clear out any dirt or debris from the bottom track
Add a bit of silicone-based spray lubricant to help everything glide like new
