Can I Adjust the Flap Height on the Mesh Patio Pet Door?

Modified on Mon, 8 Jun at 3:54 PM

Short Answer

Yes. Optional Bottom Risers can be fitted to the Mesh Patio Pet Door to raise the flap position for taller pets.

By raising the flap higher off the ground, many pets can enter and exit more comfortably without needing to crouch as much.

What Is a Bottom Riser?

Bottom Risers raise the entire pet door and flap position higher within the frame.

This can help:

  • Reduce crouching for taller pets
  • Make entry and exit more comfortable
  • Reduce strain on the back, neck, and joints
  • Improve access where a pet naturally approaches from a higher surface

Up to 2 Bottom Risers can be installed on a single Mesh Patio Pet Door.

Flap Height by Configuration

Step-Over Measurement is the height your pet steps over to enter the flap.

Top of Flap Opening is the highest point of the flap opening and can help determine whether your pet can comfortably pass through without excessive crouching.

How Many Bottom Risers Can I Use?

You can install:

  • Up to 2 Bottom Risers per Mesh Patio Pet Door

Each riser adds:

  • 75 mm (3") to the overall Patio Pet Door height

  • 75 mm (3") to the step over and flap opening height

Important Considerations

Raising the flap height can make entry easier for taller pets, but it also increases how high your pet needs to step over the bottom of the frame.

If your home has a step or change in floor level on one side of the door, consider how this may affect your pet's ability to comfortably use the flap.

Because every pet is different, customers should always compare the step-over height to their pet's measurements before purchasing.
