Yes, you can install our Pet Doors (excluding the Cat Flap) into single and double-glazed glass, but a qualified glazier must carry out the installation.
Note: Check Product Specifications First - Before arranging installation, please review the product depth and other specifications in the Specifications Tab on the product listing to ensure you have adequate clearance for your specific door or panel.
Sliding Glass Door Clearance
If installing into a sliding door, make sure you will still have enough clearance to operate the door normally after the pet door is fitted.
Double-Glazed Glass Considerations
Double-glazed units consist of two panes of glass separated by a sealed air gap for insulation and energy efficiency.
Cutting into existing double glazing is generally not feasible and can compromise the seal, insulation, and strength of the unit.
In most cases, your glazier will need to replace the entire panel with a custom-cut unit designed to fit the pet door.
Always confirm with your glazier whether your existing glass can be modified or if a replacement is required.\
Energy Efficiency
Altering glass panels can affect thermal insulation. Ensure the pet door and tunnel are installed and sealed correctly to help prevent drafts, moisture build-up, and condensation.
Safety and Compliance
Your glazier should follow all relevant safety standards for glass cutting and installation. If your glass is toughened or laminated, special handling or replacement will be required, as these materials cannot be cut once manufactured.
Final Recommendation
Discuss your project in detail with your chosen glazier before proceeding, and provide them with the pet door’s full specifications to ensure the best fit and performance.
