This article will guide you through troubleshooting for Flap Not Closing Properly for the Ultra Clear Pet Door.
If your Ultra Clear Pet Door flap isn’t closing properly, it could be due to one of the following reasons:
1. Weather Seal Interference
The Ultra Clear Pet Door has a brush-style weather seal attached to the flap edge. If the seal has come loose or was installed incorrectly, it can get caught in the hinge area and stop the flap from closing fully.
- Check that the weather seal is securely attached and nothing is obstructing the flap’s movement.
2. Magnet Polarity Issue
The magnets in the flap and frame are designed to attract and hold the flap closed. If the magnet polarity is incorrect, the magnets will repel each other instead.
- To fix this: remove the magnet from the base of the flap, flip it over, and check that it aligns properly before gluing it back into place.
3. Adverse Weather Conditions
High winds can occasionally cause the flap to blow open.
These doors are designed to be draft-proof, but extremely windy conditions can overcome the strength of the magnets.
The magnets are intentionally balanced - strong enough to keep the flap closed in normal conditions, but not so strong that they make it hard for your pet to use the door. Making the magnets stronger would reduce wind issues but could create accessibility problems for your pet.
